You are invited to take part in the Crato Writing Camp. We call it a writing camp, but every form of expression and creation is encouraged: photo and videography, drawing, painting, dancing, cooking, storytelling, sculpture, ...

Optional: Waking Life
Perceiving harmony, exploring dissonance and sweating a lot. Some people go for full immersion day and night and day, while others choose to get only a little taste of chaos before pulling back to the serenity of Herdade do Gamito. Waking Life is optional: some musicians and producers prefer to focus on developing their creations further during this period.

Closure
Poolside contemplation. Exchanging stories. We bring the works of art together into a whole, find a balance, and close with a ceremonial ending.

Sabam grant
Sabam can cover part of the trip.
Sabam has a new grant for people taking part in a songwriting camp. The grant reimburses 50% of travel and accommodation costs.
From our side, we'll provide proof of the paid nights so you can recover these costs yourselves.
The condition is that you are registered as a Sabam member.

What's the price?
40€ per person per night.
I can't make it for the whole period, can I come?
Sure. We promote being there for longer times to create an atmosphere, but we understand it might be difficult to allocate two complete weeks.
I don't have a ticket for Waking Life, does it make sense for me to participate?
Yes. Last year most participants did not have a ticket for WL. Spending time in the environment of Herdade do Gamito is an experience in its own right.
How will food be arranged?
We try to have moments where we share meals collectively (mostly dinner), for which everyone is encouraged to contribute. However there's no planning enforced.
Is there a fixed daily schedule?
We try to create an environment where collective creation emerges organically. No schedule is imposed, but we do encourage working in a structured way.
How do I get there?
Herdade do Gamito is a 2h30m drive from Lisbon airport. Car rental can be as low as 15€/day in Portugal. There will be a Signal group for arranging rides between participants.
